Installation Guide - Kitchen Backsplashes

How to install kitchen backsplashes

The first step in installing kitchen backsplashes is to clean the surface where they will be placed. Make sure this area is clean and dry before you begin. Next, carefully measure the space to determine the size of the backsplashes needed. Accurate measurements are important to ensure a perfect fit.

Preparation of necessary materials and tools

Before beginning the installation, make sure you have all the necessary materials and tools within easy reach. You will need backsplash adhesive, a putty knife, a spatula, a spirit level, a pencil, and a ruler. Also, be sure to have clean cloths on hand to wipe away any excess adhesive.

Kitchen backsplash installation

To install your kitchen backsplash, apply a thin layer of special adhesive to the back of the backsplash. Then, place the backsplash onto the surface and press it firmly to ensure a good bond. Use a spirit level to ensure the backsplash is perfectly straight. Allow it to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions, then clean off any excess adhesive with a damp cloth. Your kitchen backsplash is now installed and ready to use!

Hand with cloth cleaning the wall

1. Prepare the surface

The surface must be completely smooth, clean, and dry. Remove any dust with a slightly damp cloth. Ensure there are no residues on the wall, such as paint drips. Sanded surfaces must be flawless, as imperfections may be visible. If the paint is fresh, wait at least two weeks before installation.

2. Prepare the installation
It is best to do this with 2 people.

The backs of all the panels are numbered. They must be hung from left to right. Align the first panel, starting on the left. If the wall has a slight curve, the vinyl may overlap slightly. Simply trim the excess at the end. Secure the panel with masking tape. Before proceeding to the next step, ensure the panel is level.

Installation of the first backsplash panel on the wall

3. Install the first panel

Lift the backing 2 inches and trim the non-adhesive portion of the panel. Apply the vinyl using the cloth-covered squeegee provided. Once the left side is in place, continue applying the vinyl by peeling back the backing. Ensure the vinyl is firmly adhered to the bottom of the wall using the squeegee. If bubbles appear, guide them towards the outside of the panel. If this doesn't work, pierce them with a needle.

Installation of the 2nd panel

4. Install the 2nd panel

Each new panel should overlap the previous panel by 1/2 inch. Position the second panel following the same guidelines as in the previous step, ensuring that the progression of the work aligns with the final image. Repeat this process for the remaining panels.
